JUSTIS DANTO-CLANCY

Justis Danto-Clancy is an associate at Engel & Associates, practicing criminal and quasi-criminal litigation. He represents clients charged with criminal, drug, and regulatory offences throughout Ontario.

Justis went to law school in Thunder Bay, at Lakehead University. There, he represented clients on summary criminal matters by volunteering at community legal clinics. In 2020, he won the Sopinka Cup, the national criminal trial advocacy competition. He was elected to be president of the students’ association during law school and, at graduation, was valedictorian of his class and recipient of a number of prestigious awards.

Justis was called to the bar in 2021. Before joining Engel & Associates in 2024, Justis worked for two years as a sole practitioner criminal trial lawyer in Ottawa. He is a member of the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa.

In his spare time, Justis loves team sports, canoeing, the outdoors, and volunteering. He is a Director of Barristers for a Better Bytown, a charity that focuses on improving the quality of life in Ottawa’s inner-city neighbourhoods, with a particular interest in at-risk youth.
